This is the first use of my new iPhone 16 Pro Max's LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) scanning capability. The camera was
hand-held while the object remained stationary on a high stool. I sidled around and around following the prompts given
by the app called KIRI ENGINE. The app is free but I bought the upgrade to the Pro version. The lighting came from a single source directly over the object. My own shadow never fell on the object. The computations were done by a cloud based computer.
There is upload time, queue time, processing time, an email notification, and download time all of which added up to about 20 minutes.
Three files came zipped: (.obj, .mtl, ,jpg). Using Blender I converted them to a single .glb with wavefront shading. This .glb file is only viewable from a server, a Raspberry Pi in this case. The html snippets come from a free online website: modelviewer.dev/editor/.
Also using Blender I converted the .obj file to a single .stl file which I then took into PrusaSlicer for 3D-Printing.
No corrections, no smoothing, no scaling was done. I printed the file as received.
The whimsical rabbit is a ceramic and glaze creation of Bob Jennings.
Acknowledgment and thanks go to Ray Good for steering me through the technical maze.
