This is a Rodin. It has become a symbol for people with jobs they cannot put down, like single moms.

The material is Basswood. Basswood is not exotic. It's native from Missouri to Maine. It is the softest of the hardwoods. Easy to carve.

Except for some initial bandsaw work, this piece was hand carved. Mostly with a humble #11 Xacto knife. It is finished with Poly-urethane.
