We've found our cell phones are useless in Mexico. At least we can't call back to the US with them. But we're now in a place with internet service, all you have to do is ask at the desk (with hand signals) for the password.
We're 2 days into what's turning into a 3-day driving odyssey. It'll be 1650 miles when we get to Cancun. We've made it to a little town called Acayucan in the Mexican state of Veracruz. It's marked with an "A" on the map.Cancun, by the way, is the closest city, on the map, to Cuba. I went ahead and let Hannah have her 15th birthday present, a camera. It's pink. She has had plenty of windshield time to learn to use it. Note the basketball behind the seat. Surprising what passing a ball back and forth does to get you ready to drive another 2 or 3 hours.
We're on the fourth floor of the Hotel Kinaku. It's Sunday morning. Foggy still. Church bells are calling people to mass. Dogs are barking. A rooster is erkkkking.

There could be a chapter written on each of the above, but, suffice it to say, this trip has been rich with "experiences" so far. That was the goal, wasn't it?
